Electrical Design Engineer

The Role - Electrical Design Engineer

Due to an increase in business and growth of the business, my client have a need for an Electrical Design Engineer to join their existing team. The successful person will be part of a highly skilled team, responsible the production of electrical designs and schematics for special purpose machines and equipment using AutoCAD Electrical.

Responsibilities

  • To produce electrical designs and schematics for special purpose machines and equipment using AutoCAD electrical
  • Preparation of BOMS
  • Technical coordination with colleagues, customers and suppliers
  • Technical support for workshop engineers during system build phase
  • Constructive input to project meetings to ensure customer satisfaction, machine specification, delivery dates and costings are all met efficiently and on time
  • Respond to the direction of the operations manager, health & safety committee & other management and contribute to ensuring business effectiveness.

The Right Person

The successful Electrical Design Engineer will be a graduate or time served engineer with previous experience of similar work as listed below.

  • Knowledge and understanding of bespoke/special purpose automation
  • Knowledge of motion control, fieldbus, safety systems, PLC's. HMI's
  • The use of CAD (Ideally AutoCAD Electrical)

Principal Design Engineer

The Role - Principal Design Engineer - Systems

The successful Principal Design Engineer will be the Technical leader and champion for the Mechanical Design Department for the design and manufacture of robotics and automated assembly process machinery to a variety of industries.

The Company

My client a leading global supplier, providing end to end solutions and delivering the complete project lifecycle all the way through to system handover, whilst also providing pre-sales support, project management and a fantastic after-sales service.

Responsibilities

  • To be part of a multi-discipline team to concept bespoke automation system solutions

  • Where required, be involved in system concepting for quotations using 3D & 2D CAD

  • Work to project time scales and ensure design completion to the agreed project plans

  • Manage and mentor internal mechanical design engineers as well as subcontract design engineers

  • Maintain drawing control and design standards into the design environment with an emphasis on implementing standard parts and methodology across the mechanical design function

  • Conduct FMEA for internal and external analysis

  • Generate FDS, DDS documentation as required

  • Design to cost as agreed and detailed in the project overview costings

  • Organise and implement prototype engineering and machinery development trials when required

  • Direct workshop staff on technical queries

The Right Person

The successful Principal Design Engineer will have the following attributes.

  • Educated to Degree level in Mechanical Engineering

  • High level of knowledge in the design of special purpose machinery - robotics, high speed assembly and process machinery

  • Minimum of 5 years experience with SolidWorks (Inventor would be an added bonus)

  • Competent with the design of pneumatic circuits

  • Capable of completing design calculations

  • Knowledge of the different types and uses of robots

  • Familiar with modern manufacturing techniques and manufacturing costs
