Health, Safety & Engineering experts Finch Consulting have provided consultancy, litigation and advice to a diverse range of Clients since 1990. Finch Consulting specialise in the potential health and safety risks when people interact with engineering, plant and equipment. Working across many sectors, Finch Consultants work seamlessly with their clients to understand the possible interactions between people and engineering. They listen closely to their clients, to ensure they have the best possible understanding of their operations and then, using individual and collective knowledge, they help identify the hazards.

Since an MBO in early 2012, it's culture has continued to evolve, resulting in high revenue growth and the development of the team, with a very strong emphasis on investment in people to catalyse accelerated growth through to 2022.

They realised that hiring the right people was their biggest barrier to growth.

The problem
Finch Consulting have committed to a strategic growth plan with people at its core, which meant a recruitment drive. As the candidates they wanted to hire were technical experts, they invested substantially in trade advertising with disappointing results. They also enlisted a number of recruiters with limited knowledge of their field. After 12 months they had hired only one new person.

They believed that it was because there weren't many experts in the marketplace that worked at the highly technical levels they operate at.

The solution
Finch decided to approach a technical consultancy, to see if they could understand the technical depth and be able to attract the right people to them.

Finch Consulting approached Precision. Precision took an in-depth approach to identifying and really understanding what Finch are about as a business and what type of industry experts they needed.

Fast forward twelve months and twelve people have been interviewed with eight industry experts being hired in the fields of engineering risk. Finch Consulting are now on course to fulfil their commitment to their growth plans by 2022.
