My client is an established firm in the specialist spray booth sector who are currently looking for a Technical Maintenance Engineer to assist the current team with the breakdown and remedial works of their spray booths on various sites across the UK. Full training will be provided so machinery-specific experience is not essential.
The ideal candidate base location could include Oxford, Luton, Reading, Swindon, Leamington Spa, Bath, Worcester, Banbury, Reading or Slough.
Other suitable job titles could include Maintenance Engineer, Repair Technician, Remedials Engineer, Field Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Technical Engineer or Industrial Electrician.
The Role of Field Maintenance Engineer
- This is a large geographical patch and will require frequent overnight stays.
- Attending technical breakdowns on site.
- Attending to any urgent breakdowns that can not be covered by Service Engineers.
- Carry out planned remedial works on site not covered by Service Engineers.
- Machine retrofits and Control system/ Energy upgrades
- Site visits to survey jobs for accurate costing/call up
- Reading wiring diagrams and designing simple electrical circuits
- Working with single and three-phase electrics
- Fitting, setting up and re-programming variable speed drives (VSDs)
- Some simple PLC software programming, downloading programs, replacement of parts and commissioning
- Diagnostic skills for fault finding, following control circuits to identify failure
- Mechanical repairs with fans, fan bearings and motors
- Ability to communicate well with customers.
- Candidates must have a full driving license and be willing to travel across southern England
- It would be an advantage to have experience with natural gas / LPG burners
The Candidate- Must hold a valid Electrical Qualification such as City and Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or HNC/HND equivalent
- 5 years of experience in fault finding and installing VSDs (variable speed drives)
- Has experience in fault finding on PLCs
- Has experience of remedial works on industrial machinery or similar
- Ability to read and work from electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Able to change mechanical components such as fans, fan bearings, motors and shafts
- Candidates must have a full uk driving license and be willing to travel across southern England
- Ability to communicate well with customers
- Happy to stay overnight away from home on a frequent basis.
Salary and Package:- Starting salary £45,760 per annum (£22 per hour)
- 40-hour working week with guaranteed overtime available, OTE £60,000

- Saturday overtime x 1.20 (planned into their diary in advance)
- A bonus of up to £100 per retrofit or equipment upgrade sold to the customer
