Field Technician Up to £50k (depending on experience)
Be part of the team building the UK's first distributed battery-swap network for electric mopeds. My client is at the very start of something big, and are looking for a hands-on technical operator who loves making physical tech work in the real world. If you're someone who can bring hardware online, tinker with IoT systems, and solve problems fast out in the field, this is your opportunity to help shape the backbone of a brand-new clean-mobility network in London.
About the Role
You'll be the go-to technical expert responsible for getting our battery-swap lockers operational, stable, and talking to the network. Your work will have a direct impact on reliability for our first riders and the next phases of product development.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Installing, configuring, and testing battery-swap lockers and supporting electrical infrastructure across London.
Programming, issuing, and managing NFC cards for riders and partners (ahead of our transition to a fully app-based system).
Troubleshooting software, connectivity, and hardware issues (working with suppliers such as VMOTO and Zenion).
Working closely with electricians, manufacturers, and software partners to bring new sites online.
Creating simple documentation, checklists, and processes to support future rollout teams.
Supporting the shift from NFC-enabled access to a digital / payments-based user system.
Feeding back insights from the field to continuously improve system reliability, usability, and data capture.
About You
You're a natural tinkerer who loves diagnosing issues and making physical tech behave. You're curious, pragmatic, and unafraid to get your hands dirty. You thrive in environments where no two days look the same and where your contribution genuinely shapes the product.
Hands-on technical experience with hardware, IoT devices, EV charging systems, or similar.
Basic understanding of low-voltage electrical systems (or ability to work safely alongside qualified electricians).
Familiarity with NFC/RFID systems, access control technologies, or embedded software.
Practical, resourceful mindset — comfortable working in warehouses, workshops, and outdoor field environments.
A start-up attitude: independent, fast-moving, and focused on outcomes.
Requirements:
Ability to ride an electric moped (helps with rapid site visits and gives you real insight into the rider experience).
Bonus points for:
Experience with payment gateways, APIs, or connected mobility platforms.
Background in mobility, micromobility, or last-mile delivery environments.
Why Join Them?
Help build a first-of-its-kind EV infrastructure network in the UK.
Work directly with founders on technology that will scale rapidly.
Be part of a mission to make urban mobility cleaner, faster, and more accessible.
Huge room for growth as we expand city-wide and beyond.
