My client is a leading Rotary Equipment company that operates across various industries, providing a range of services. They are now seeking a Machine Shop Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of their machining department, ensuring that production targets are met safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
We’re seeking an experienced Machine Shop Supervisor to lead and coordinate the daily operations within a busy, precision-focused machine shop. You will be responsible for managing a team of machinists and operators, ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of machinists and machine operators.
Hands-on programming of CNC Milling and Turning machines using Siemens' Controls.
Manual Machining on XYZ Machines.
Provide hands-on guidance and technical training to machinists to support their development.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models to determine appropriate machinery, tooling, and processes.
Oversee the operation of CNC machines, manual lathes, and pillar drills, ensuring machines are set up and running efficiently.
Monitor machine performance, making adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and productivity.
Conduct in-process and final quality inspections to ensure parts meet specifications and tolerances.
Keep accurate records of production output, approved parts, and any non-conformances.
Perform or coordinate routine maintenance, ensuring equipment remains safe and operational.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance quality across the workshop.
Minimum Skills and Experience Required
Proven experience as a Machinist, with supervisory or team leader experience in a machine shop environment.
Experience programming and setting milling and turning machines, ideally using Siemens controls.
Strong background in manual, semi-automated, and CNC machining processes.
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering schematics.
Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and verniers.
Solid understanding of machining principles, including speeds, feeds, and best practices.
Experience working with a variety of materials, including ferrous, non-ferrous, plastic, and copper.
Knowledge of repairing journals and shafts.
Experience with welding or balancing would be advantageous, but is not essential.
