Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Electronics Test Engineer you will be responsible for managing complex projects from the initial brief for a concept, the design and development stage, testing of prototypes;  liaise with the manufacturing team and signing off the products ready for implementation. 

Working as part of the specialist engineering group, you will liaise with the management and engineering teams, sales teams and directly with customers, with occasional travel to customer sites within the UK as required: as well as the following duties

• Product design - covering complex analogue and digital electronic systems development with associated schematic design, simulation, and PCB layout activities.  
  
  
• Test solutions - developing bespoke test solutions which meet customers’ precise needs
  
  
• Discuss proposals with customers and review their concept drawings/ideas.  This includes reading drawings, electronic schematics, and devising pricing structures.
  
  
• Provide quotations based on proposed design and test solutions.
  
  
• Design and develop systems, circuits and devices or determine how to integrate new systems and designs with existing technology.
  
  
• Design test specifications and appropriate solutions which may require customisation or integration with existing systems, to include ATE hardware and integration.
  
  
• Test the theoretical design. 
  
  
• Design and build/customisation of test fixtures and complex printed circuit board assemblies using CAD software.
  
  
• Evaluation, proving, and acceptance testing of the finished ATE design.
  
  
• Generation of associated documentation packs including wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, BOMs etc
  
  
• Manage the project planning and budgets for each project
  
  

 The Right Person

The successful Senior Electronics Test Engineer will have a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar environment (electronics) and be educated to degree level or equivalent, as well as possessing the following attributes and skills:

• Some practical knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic design would be advantageous.
  
  
• Extensive working knowledge of functional ATE software, specifically developed using National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand is desirable.
  
  
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software, such as DispTrace
  
  
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and schematics.
  
  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  
  
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  
  
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
