My client develops manufacturing solutions for clients’ challenging components and assemblies. The next generation of assemblies will feature integrated electric drive and generation solutions which are being developed for scalable in-house manufacture. They are currently looking for a skilled Engineer to join them as a Manufacturing Engineer. Other suitable job titles could include Process Engineer, NPI Engineer, Manufacturing Systems Engineer and Production Engineer.

Commutable from Coventry, Daventry, Nuneaton, Leamington Spa, Banbury, Northampton, Birmingham and Leicester. 

The purpose of this role is to:

• Support the principal engineer and manufacturing engineering team
• Establish robust processes and equipment specifications
• Deliver required capacity, throughput and quality of the products.
• Take ownership of required production tooling activities including design.

 
The Role of Manufacturing Systems Engineer:

• To support the principal engineer in technical strategy & decision making relating to electric motor manufacturing processes & specifications.
• Develop production tooling required for volume manufacturing including design.
• Liaison with design partners.
• Selection and liaison with manufacturing equipment supply partners.
• Establish line layouts for e-motor assembly and test cells ensuring capacity, throughput and quality goals are met for initial pilot, upscaled pilot and future volume facilities.
• Working with the principal engineer construct: Performance based equipment specifications, Sourcing documentation for core manufacturing technologies, Detailed Process Flows, Process instructions and data logging capability
• Monitor equipment manufacturing progress and oversee installation and commissioning
• Fully support PFMEA and Manufacturing Control Plan development and ensure requirements are translated into equipment specifications and operation.
• Support manufacturing supervisor in operator training requirements
• Optimise manufacturing process through process development
• Resolve production issues via structured problem solving methods

 
Experience Required - Process Engineer:

• Higher Education Qualification in Engineering 
• Minimum of 3 years experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer / Process Engineer / Production Engineer in leading edge manufacturing
• Some experience with Electro-Mechanical or Electro-Magnetic manufacturing processes 
• Competent with SolidWorks design (CAD)
• Knowledge of winding processes, termination processes and interference processes, such as induction heating, stator winding, copper to copper termination or bonding processes would be desirable
• Product specific tooling design for volume manufacturing
• Experience of new product introduction
• Experience of volume manufacturing
• Experience of appropriate application of pFMEA, Control Plan, risk analysis
• Experience to guide & influence sourcing of key tools including; CAD, simulation, Industry 4.0
