Redrow has announced it is holding a stamp duty holiday event across its active schemes this weekend, allowing potential home buyers the chance to learn more about the changes to stamp duty which were implemented in July.
Throughout the weekend, Redrow said that sales consultants would be on hand to explain the temporary changes exempting homes priced up to £500,000 from the tax which would save home buyers up to £15,000 on their purchase.
The housebuilder referred to Rightmove research showing the impact of stamp duty relief – nine out of ten people who buy a home before the end of March will pay no stamp duty, according to the analysis.
And Redrow’s own research reveals the effects of lockdown on people’s attitudes towards their home. When asked about their current property, 40% of UK adults said that spending more time at home had changed their level of satisfaction with it. And a quarter of future home movers are rethinking what they want from their next home.
James Holmear, Redrow’s group sales director, said: “Through our stamp duty awareness weekend on 26th and 27th September, we will provide a wealth of information for all potential buyers, whether they are prospective first-time buyers, next-steppers on the property ladder, or those looking to rightsize to a ready-to-go new home that better suits their lifestyle.
“There is a significant opportunity available to those looking to purchase before the stamp duty holiday period comes to an end in March 2021, whether that’s bolstering a deposit to purchase a more spacious property, or additional cash to tailor a new home with the ideal fixtures, décor and finishing touches.”
Precision People's recruitment specialist in the Construction and Building Products sector Natalie Chapman, who has over 13 year's experience within this field, welcomed the initiative.
"I think it's an excellent idea teaching potenitial buyers the advantages of the stamp duty holiday and can only help to boost the sector."
