Title - Train Engineer (Mechanical)

Location - Leeds

Shifts - Continental shift - 0700 - 1900

Salary - £31,500 basic and after 6 months service your basic will rise to £36,000

Package - x10 training modules to complete worth £1,500 each in bonuses overtime pension holidays

The Role

As the Train Engineer, you will be responsible for providing general service and maintenance of locomotives.

50% of your role will be planned, carrying out everything from oil changes, filter changes, piston inspection and changes, swapping out connecting rods etc.
Along with this, 6 and 12 monthly (C & D) examinations will a part of your remit to carry out.

Once you have settled in and you are comfortable, you will move onto carrying out the overhauling of brakes, brake rigging, changing wheels, changing axles, changing traction motors etc

The Role

As the Train Electrician, you will be responsible for supporting your mechanical counter-parts by;

  • 70% of your role will be mechanical in nature, however its your electrical skills that is really important for this role

  • You will carry out electrical fault finding and rectification to the trains motors, wiring and various panels etc

  • Install, maintain and repair electrical wiring and motors

  • Uphold H&S on site

The Candidate

To be successful in your application for the role of Train Electrician, you will need to be;

  • Commutable to or based in Leeds

  • Possess an NVQ level 3 qualification in either mechanical engineering or electrical engineering

  • Proven track record and background in carrying out electrical fault finding on 3 phase systems

The Role:

To ensure that the lift service is executed efficiently on various sites on your assigned route whilst providing a high quality of customer service. Attend all service visits within contractual time frames, ensuring that all minor repairs are carried out in a professional, competent and timely manner. To take responsibility for any paired mate to instruct on a technical level, maintain and Health & Safety best practices. The basic salary you start on will depend on experience if you are keen to study your NVQ 4 qualification this company will fully support this career development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide completed lift service with a minimum number of callbacks.

  • Follow lift manuals and diagrams accurately when necessary.

  • Adhere to quality assurance; health and safety and environmental standards

  • Be able to maintain and balance the accuracy of lift services.

  • Advise the Service Manager of daily activities & keep them updated with current field-based issues.

  • Liaise with on-site lift inspectors on all ongoing job-related matters including technical issues and outstanding works.

  • Carry out minor lift repairs when required to do so.

  • Demonstrate fault finding skills and knowledge of various types of lift equipment.

The Candidate:

  • NVQ 3 or equivalent in Lift Engineering

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience of working on a variety of lift equipment.

  • Possess practical skills preferably from a lift engineering background

  • Ability to follow lift manuals and diagrams and to adhere to health and safety requirements

  • Confidence to professionally handle sensitive situations

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with a variety of people, able to work under pressure with honesty and integrity

The role:

This role is more than being a Tester for passenger lifts. This role will encompass being a skilled Technician offering advice on site and over the phone. Plus testing in your designated geographical location. As a Technical Manager you will oversee the entire technical division ensuring that all technical fault finding and testing work is carried out effectively and efficiently by your team of engineers and subcontractors. You will be responsible for the performance of this lift division, the service level agreements agreed with your portfolio of clients and report directly to the board of directors. There are multiple opportunities Nationwide with this company and depending where you live will determine which role you apply for.

  • Making improvements to, and offering advice about, lifting operational procedures

  • Ensuring that lifting equipment works to its specification

  • Creating and carrying out test procedures for a variety of lifting equipment

  • Investigating problems and diagnosing and repairing faults

  • Troubleshooting on problematic lifts and completing technical repairs for on-site fault finding.

  • Supervising lift engineering and all technical staff adhering to health and safety standards at all times

  • Writing reports and documentation of all work completed accurately and on time
