Escalator Engineer - Escalator Maintenance

Location: South London

Commutable from - Crawley, Brighton, Gatwick, Dartford, Woking, Guildford, Twickenham, Croydon

Basic Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 DOE, OTE £60,000

Due to continued growth, this lift company are now looking to add to their Escalator and moving Walkway team, based south of London. There are multiple vacancies with this market leading Lift & Escalator company. We are looking for a skilled Escalator Maintenance Engineer for a day shift and another engineer for a night shift. The role will be to service breakdowns during peak times.

Do you have the specific NVQ Level 3 Escalator Qualification?

Key Responsibilities:

Building up new escalators and moving walkways once installed onto their seating's.

Complete minor and major repairs to escalators and moving walkways.

Provide technical assistance plus ongoing training to the local Engineers where required.

Routine escalator maintenance reducing the risk of breakdowns

Inspect, clean, lubricate and adjust all components for optimum performance

Detailed report of the work carried out at each service visit.

Identification of weak and faulty parts before they cause a problem

Ensure a high standard of quality, delivery of service, and customer care is maintained.

Appropriate PPE will be provided and its use is mandatory and any loss or defect must be reported and replacements obtained.

The Candidate:

Must be qualified to a minimum NVQ level 3 and have 5 years experience in the industry.

Have experience in the maintenance/call out on all types and manufactures equipment.

Mechanical & Electrical knowledge, good communication skills to enable technical support.

Characteristics: hard working, reliable, good time management skills, provide a high quality personalised service, team player

Previous experience on build-ups is not required and can be provided by our client. However having this will be a distinct advantage

Business Development Manager - Lift industry

Our client is a market leader in the Lift Industry that offers a comprehensive lift service. We are looking for a skilled Business Development Manager with an Installation, service contracts and modernisation background. The ideal candidate will come from the lift industry with an engineering background. The successful candidate will have experience winning new business and project managing the contracts through to completion.

The Role

You will be responsible for - Winning new business from surveying and quoting new clients.

Work collaboratively with the client from start to finish, including ordering key components this could be from a control panel to a full new lift.

To expand the client service portfolio - arranging and attending tender meetings - relationship building every step of the way.

Upon completion of audits you will need to write detailed reports of your findings. This will include your recommendations for installation and refurbishment improvements.

Proactively develops and creates customer relationships in his/her area of responsibility

Accountable for developing company customer base or market area

Creates and communicates leads and sales opportunities for entire sales team (e.g. cross-selling)

Ensures customer satisfaction and solving complaints with the rest of the team

Documents the customer and contact information, maintains customer data

Sell

Accountable for leads, opportunities, orders and contracts to meet the sales budget and pricing targets

Validates that the contents of the order received from the customer are in line with the negotiation process outcome, including terms and conditions, quality and safety

Accountable for hand-over to installation, maintenance and/or engineering with complete and correct information

Maintains full information of opportunities, tasks and visits.

Timely and accurate reporting

The Person

Having the traits of a hunter and farmer are essential to be successful.

You will not be adverse to travelling between clients account managing and pitching new business.

You will target Architects and main contractors to gain new projects and specifications whilst trying to break existing specifications of competitor products.

Your targets will be in terms of turnover, profit and number of installs.

You will be of the mindset that this is your business and you will be driven to put in the effort, miles and time to make this a success

Skills and Experience:

Mastering customer contacts, presentations and negotiations, closing deals, tendering process, after sales activities, basic knowledge of contractual and financial terms.

Good IT Skills

Basic level of commercial / technical training

Good written and spoken English

You will need to have a proven business development background in the lift industry

Head of Transport

THE ROLE:

  • Management of drivers, fleet and planning for the business.
  • Engagement, Coaching, and Mentoring of your team.
  • Implementation and maintenance of high-performance standards.

THE PERSON:

  • Head of Transport, Transport Operations Manager or Transport Manager with a strong track record of pedigree and success, ideally within the FMCG, Multi-Drop or Food Service sectors.
  • CPC qualified - not essential but highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of London and South East Road networks.
  • Multi-Drop delivery and collection exposure.
  • Able to work effectively and at great pace within a dynamic marketplace.
  • P&L responsibility for budgets £1m or above within a transport environment.
    Overall management responsibility for at least 20 heads or more.
