The Role - Head of Controls

This is an exciting opportunity to become Head of Controls to lead a Control Systems team in the production and servicing of my clients machine range and to make continuous improvements to the product range.

The Company

A well established company that builds CNC Machines for the manufacture of Ultra-Precision optical surfaces. These Machines are for a broad range of industries such as Medical Implants, Consumer Electronics, Astronomical Optics and Semiconductors.

The Right Person

The successful Head of Controls will have a good understanding of concepts involved in CNC and Machine Control as well as an understanding of how to design, specify and implement multi-axis CNC control systems and ancillaries (Fanuc skills are very desirable, Bosch skills will also score highly). You will have a good understanding of electrical systems and fault finding. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, have a customer focused attitude and an analytical approach to problem solving. Excellent time and Project Management skills whilst working to challenging timescales. You will have previous experience in managing people and or projects and 5 years in a technical role within electrical/electronic engineering or a similar discipline.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Electrical aspects of build process and liaise with other departments

  • Actively manage and participate in design of new systems

  • Identify areas for improvement and implement plan of work

  • Lead customer service and problem solving

  • Leadership of multidisciplinary team of engineers

  • Occasional service work at customer sites

  • CE certification and ensuring production of relevant documentation diagrams
