With over a 100 years under their belt and over 100 engineers based on site, they are now seeking a Building Envelope Consultant to undertake various testing, inspection and investigations for all aspects of civil and mechanical engineering.

The Role

You will have the opportunity to review new building envelopes and the investigation or existing ones. The role is London based but will involve occasional UK and international travel. Report writing and practical ability are essential.

As a Chartered Engineer you will have full membership of an appropriate recognised professional institution, (MICE, MIStructE). For those who enjoy technical problem solving, this is an ideal position. The role involves working in a multi-disciplinary team of highly skilled engineers, surveyors and materials technologists working in all aspects of the building envelope field.

Key Responsibilities (including, but not limited to;)

 

  • Review of new and existing building envelopes
  • Reviewing technical documentation that may comprise structural / engineering drawings
  • Providing the client with timely preliminary verbal and/or written advice
  • Conducting detailed visual and low magnification examinations of failed components / structures
  • Consulting relevant standards, regulations and other published guidance
  • Technical report writing

 

Ideally you will;

  • Have attained a good honours degree in Structural / Civil Engineering
  • Be a member of an appropriate recognised professional institution (MICE, MIStructE)
  • A higher degree by study or research (eg MSc or PhD) is desirable
  • Be a Chartered Engineer
  • Have experience of undertaking engineering type investigations and be familiar with health and safety regulations and guidance relating to the workplace
  • Have a practical engineering ability in addition to a strong academic record
