The Role: Manufacturing Engineer

Salary up to £45k

Easily Commutable from both East and West Midlands

The Role

The Successful Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for supporting the improvement of current manufacturing activities and the introduction of new products and processes by providing the technical and engineering expertise to deliver business growth. Primary business involves steel and aluminium fabrication including laser cutting, pressing, bending, welding, polishing, painting and assembly. To be responsible for the management of projects within a multi-disciplined team delivering to strict time, cost and quality constraints. Projects will include New Product Introduction, capacity and technology led expansion, process improvement and changes to existing products and processes

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support specification of new tooling, equipment plus product and process design

  • Plan, develop, co-ordinate, implement, and effectively transfer the manufacturing process from engineering to production, achieving required levels of output, quality and efficiency

  • Lead Process Engineering projects and improvement activities

  • Create Project Timing Plans and ensure that projects are delivered to plan

  • Creation and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures

  • Always ensure compliance to the requirements of H&S and Quality Management Systems

  • Support the training and development of associates as required

The Right Person

The ideal candidate will be time served, have qualifications in an engineering discipline or have significant relevant experience in a similar role as well as the following experience:-

  • Demonstrate ability to introduce new equipment, tooling and processes

  • Ability to use lean manufacturing techniques to improve manufacturing processes

  • Good leadership and team working skills - the ability to work with internal cross functional teams and external clients and customers.

  • Knowledge of the construction, rail or defence industries would be an advantage to support business growth in these areas

  • Experience delivering Projects from Conception to Completion within a Manufacturing Environment

  • Hands on Experience with MIG/TIG Welding and/or Press Brake / Laser Cutting
