Are you a skilled Manual Turning Machinist with heavy or industrial engineering experience? If yes, read on….

My client is an established firm in the engineering manufacturing sector, based in Halesowen in the West Midlands and commutable from Birmingham, Stourbirdge, Smethwick, Dudley, Kidderminster, Redditch, Wolverhampton and Walsall. They are currently looking for a skilled Conventional Lathe Machinist to join them on rotating shifts.

The Role:

  • Conventional Turning on large components up to 20m in length to tight tolerances ( /-.05mm) in
    accordance with technical engineering drawings and specifications
  • Use of overhead cab driven cranes. (LOLER Training will be provided)
  • Deburring components and ensuring they are fit for transportation
  • Maintaining machinery, swarf removal, routine oiling and greasing etc
  • Carry out daily bookings against route card jobs and timings
  • Adhere to and encourage health and safety methods and procedures
  • Inspection for all components throughout the process
  • Complete flexibility and mobility of labour as necessary
  • Maintain a safe working environment and comply with the Company’s H&S Policy 

Minimum Skills / Experience Required:
  • Manual Lathe machining in a similar heavy engineering environment
  • Able to read and interpret technical Engineering drawings
  • A self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • You will be conscientious, methodical and able to work to your own initiative
  • You must have the ability to deliver under pressure, be enthusiastic and responsible
  • Have experience of working in a similar, manufacturing / forging environment
  • Task orientated with the ability to build effective relationships; you will adopt a proactive approach to supporting the machine shop function 

The Package:
  • Starting salary of up to £31k per annum, including bonuses
  • Free onsite parking
  • Working Double Day Shifts – 6am – 2pm, 2pm – 10pm
  • 38 hours per week
  • Pension and Holidays

  • Hold an FLT Licence - National licence preferred
  • More than 2 years Press brake Experience (desired but not essential)
  • Candidate should be able to work on their own initiative.
  • Candidate should be Flexible and willing to carry out other roles when required
