Technical Manager - Vehicle Maintenance / Commercial Fleet (Commercial Vehicle industry)
This is a great opportunity for a Technical Manager in Manchester commutable from Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Warrington, Wigan, St Helens, Liverpool, Runcorn, Macclesfield.
Paying in the region of £35-50K depending on experience, working for a leading, established, international distributor within the commercial vehicle industry.
The successful Technical Manager will be working for an employer who:

As the successful Technical Manager your main purpose is to ensure that the products supplied into the market meet EU standard of manufacture and are fit for purpose; and to also provide a support and technical information function to the sales teams in the UK and Europe.
Responsibilities will include:
Development of technical data and information to allow all personnel to be able to understand company products to ensure that the right products are supplied to meet the needs and application of the business to fulfil regulatory laws in both the UK and Europe
Development of a training programme to ensure that personnel entering the business have sufficient product and industry knowledge to meet their roles and within the business
Development and maintenance of a technical library to include drawings and certification
To support and provide specialist knowledge to the sales department and any others within the business
To develop new products Commercial Vehicle (CV) products that are fit for purpose for the UK and EU markets
To identify and work with existing and new suppliers to ensure that all regulatory and quality aspects of current and new products meet the industry and legislative requirements
Identification of potential suppliers that can meet all technical and volume aspects of wheels that can spread risk of the small number of suppliers that the business has today.
To specifically look at cost effective supplies from China that can strengthen supply chain and profitability
To work with the supply chain team to ensure that suppliers meet all quality needs
Control and management of quality control and claims processes and systems to speed up response times and customer service
Write and implement processes for wheel and tyre assembly (or any other aspects that change the product through assembly, painting or any other needs) to ensure that the company complies with technical and legislative requirements.
Provide support to the marketing department to allow communication of NPD
To provide support to the sales team across all aspects of the business
The successful Technical Manager could either come from a commercial vehicle maintenance management background; or could be an experienced engineer looking for more of a management role; or could be a fairly recent graduate looking for their next challenge. The ideal qualifications and experience are listed below but are not all essential:
Degree educated preferred or mechanically trained if in vehicle maintenance management
Full and clean driving passenger car driving licence
Proven Strategic New Products Development processes and procedures
Proven and quantifiable team building experience
Advanced personal presentation skills
Personal ability to communicate and motivate staff
