Based in Worksop, Nottinghamshire but easily commutable from Derby, Sheffield, Chesterfield

Our client are a leading & well established manufacturer and supplier of high-tech and special purpose steel wire ropes to the oil & gas, marine & shipping, elevator & engineering sectors. The business has attained a strong reputation for product quality and customer service that is delivered to an enviable client portfolio across the world.

The business is entering an exciting phase in their development with a mandate to grow and identify a Manufacturing Operations Director who will be pivotal in making significant change to the Engineering function through change leadership.

Key responsibilities

Successfully operating as a member of the leadership team, take responsibility for the ongoing development and deployment of an operations strategy that will meet the goals of the business.

Providing leadership to c60 staff in production, plant maintenance, procurement, and manufacturing teams and ensuring the business attracts, develops and retains key talent

Overseeing the day to day management of the production, technical and supply chain functions ensuring the business excels in product quality and customer service

To coordinate and direct all business activities on site including manufacturing, quality, production control, and product development.

Ensuring the continued promotion of a positive culture to achieve good practice in terms of HSE And HR performance

Promoting an environment where teamwork, open communication, continuous improvement and excellent customer service are maintained

What experience would you need to be considered?

Hands-on Engineering Leadership experience within a UK based manufacturing business

Around 5-10 years of proven technical lead experience within heavy engineering and mechanical manufacturing- lean manufacturing methods for continuous improvements and optimisation of operating performance.

Director Level responsibility ideally with a Manufacturing based Degree, or a strategic leadership MBA background, demonstrable track record of success operating in an engineering,supply chain environment ideally gained in an industry related sector.

This role is an exceptional opportunity to build and deliver the company's strategy within Europe, lead the business functions of Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain and Logistics for the automotive industry in mainland Europe

What do you need to be successful in?

Proven success in setting up a supply chain/warehouse function within a manufacturing operation in mainland Europe

1st class leadership capability, instrumental in engagement with the team, creating accountability and to lead by example

Effective strategy management of OEM customer relationships with a structured approach to business development functions, commercial astuteness and execution of the vision of the business

Full ownership of P&L, with a strong understanding of strategic resource planning and budgeting/costing.

What experience will you need?

You'll need five-plus years of strategic Sales and Leadership into OEMs / Supply Chain/Logistics, and Commercial/Business Development achievement in Automotive/Aerospace and a track record of negotiating commercial contracts at board level.

Ideally, your experience needs to be within Technical Sales within Automotive / Aerospace / Manufacturing component industries where you have been instrumental in securing commercial agreements with new customers.

Full accountability and direct management over a team with personal board-level sales success.

Having a second language, preferably German or French would be advantageous, a personable team player with an understanding of European leadership culture.
