Plant & Transport Manager
Construction Industry

Our established client specialise in UK-wide construction projects. They are currently looking for a Plant Logistics Manager with experience in the construction industry. This is commutable from Leicester, Coventry, Tamworth, Hinckley, Derby, Nottingham and Birmingham.
 
The principal role of the Plant Manager is to ensure that appropriate, well-maintained plant and transport is available when and as required for ongoing projects, in a cost-efficient and timely manner. 
 
The Role:
- Ensure the plant and logistics function runs as efficiently and cost effectively as possible
- Ensure all plant, equipment and transport is properly tested / calibrated / serviced / insured / MOT'd
- Maintain all plant and transport in an appropriate condition
- Ensure that known company vehicle drivers are legitimate and authorised to drive the vehicle they are allocated
- Ensure internal plant invoicing is up to date
- Constantly monitor utilisation of plant to assist in purchasing decisions
- Manage the Plant and Transport Coordinator, administration staff, fitters and drivers (e.g. level of resource, holidays, sick leave, training, etc.)
- Recruit fitters, drivers, and administration staff as necessary
- Ensure contracts are charged appropriately for internal plant and transport
- Ensure compliance with legal and corporate standards
- Undertake recorded safety audit visits
- Introduce new systems and procedures to improve performance/efficiency
- Attend and contribute to pre-start meetings
- Identifying items of plant and transport to procure following appropriate authorisation
 
 
Key Skills / Experience Required:
- Demonstrable experience in a similar Plant Manager role
- Transport Management (GB Domestic Rules)
- The ability to develop, analyse and review data to make effective decisions
- Adaptable to changes and able to provide encouragement and assistance to the team
- Delegation skills ensuring that the workflow is managed effectively
- IT Literate
- Full clean driving licence.
- Professional and commercially aware
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Flexible and reliable
- Team Player
 
The Package:
- Starting salary of up to £60k per annum, depending on skill level and experience

The ideal Estimator candidate will have a proven track record in winning work within the construction and demolition sectors and have good commercial and contractual knowledge.
 
The Role of Estimator:
- Tasked with the primary function of estimating, this role will be required to build competitive tenders and bids, as well as building strong relationships with existing and new target clients
- This role will enhance the existing work winning team in their efforts to meet overall business goals, securing the companies foothold within key sectors and with key clients
- Research materials, equipment and labour costs and secure the best rates
- Input all relevant product specifications and pricing information into the proposal
- Collate competitive quotes from approved sub-contractors and suppliers
- Understand the client’s requirements
- Help with bids for existing repeat business and new contracts and support buying activities
- Complete detailed take-offs and issue bill of quantities to sub-contractors
 
Key Skills / Experience Required:
- Good negotiation skills
- Good project & bid management
- Commercial awareness
- Technical competence in demolition /and other construction related sectors
- Financial numeracy & the ability to undertake financial analysis

- Awareness of construction contracts
