Lead Electronics Design Engineer (Embedded & Hardware)

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000

Full time: Permanent

Based In Loughborough

We are looking for an experienced Electronics and Embedded Software Senior Design Engineer to join an exciting and market leading manufacturer of load and stability monitoring systems supplying the construction and agricultural industry.

As the business starts a new growth strategy, they need to ensure they have a clear electronic/software design plan to create the next generation of products and develop and build a design team. Now we need an experienced Senior Design Engineer to oversee the expansion of the success already achieved to date.

What will I need to be successful at?

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with the core competencies of:

To be able to design analogue and digital circuits utilising Microchip PIC and other Micro-controllers.

Produce circuit schematics and drawings whilst also systematically improving the detailed design of piece's of electronic equipment.

Analogue design of signal conditioning circuits and interfaces.

Design of power supply using linear and switched mode regulation or suitable pre-built modules.

Experience with micro-controller interfaces using standard serial comm protocols I2C and SPI.

Have familiarity of coding standards and experience with the use of C language.

Understand environmental and EMC testing whilst analysing the results to make appropriate design changes.

Knowledge of SAE J1939 CAN bus.

At least 5 years experience of embedded C, full software development life-cycle, embedded hardware design, analogue and digital electronics and documentation.

A degree in electronics/software engineering or similar.

The successful Electrical Development Engineer will support the sales, engineering & production teams by designing, testing, and implementing electrical solutions in line with client requirements regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design wiring looms & cable preparation kits in line with design and production schedules, keeping the loom schedule up to date and maintained

  • Liaise with loom suppliers for specification & pricing

  • Check drawings before issuing them as finished looms

  • Test new products/solutions and record all relevant data to support decision making, reporting findings by written or verbal means as required

  • Provide supporting information following prototype installation, collate and hold data in support of all testing carried out

  • Source potential new products for future builds, meeting with suppliers as necessary, understand new technology and how the companies conversions can benefit

  • Work with the sales and design departments to fully understand the customers requirements & develop solutions to fit the customers needs.

  • Assist with the programming and/or commissioning of components and systems
