This is a fast paced role, covering all categories of spend areas and to develop and improve working relationships with suppliers in support of the company's purchasing strategy.
The successful candidate must have a proven track record in a similar purchasing role, and ideally have experience within the Manufacturing Industry.

Key responsibilities

Oversee all purchasing and tracking of spend to budget of buying engineering parts, materials and indirect services.
Manage the internal purchasing process and the placing of orders with external suppliers, keeping track of goods inwards deliveries to the schedule
Review purchase requests, and ensure approval is in place for large spend items before discussions and negotiations commence.
Proactively seek out opportunities for the business to make immediate and long-term cost savings.
Improve the systems & processes in support of better stock management to help improve production efficiency, this includes maintaining minimum and maximum stock levels.

What experience would you need to be considered?

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate efficiently with suppliers, customers and all areas of the business
Engineering knowledge and experience of buying in an engineering environment
Experience of ISO 9001 or Quality Assurance advantageous
Computer literate with clean drivers license.
Good commercial acumen and excellent negotiation skills
Strong organisation skills and attention to detail
Experience of Manufacturing/Stores/Drawing office environment and associated procedures

Qualified Quality Engineer with experience, ideally with manufacturing processes to include Fabrication, Machining and precision engineering

demonstrable track record of success operating in a manufacturing/assembly environment, providing ongoing development of QMS to ISO 9001:2015
Supporting with the Supplier Approval process
Performing internal and supplier audits, including their planning and report writing.
Providing support with inspection activities including goods inwards, monitoring of assembly and testing processes
Initiating and when required, leading continuous improvement activities identified by analysis of KPIs, investigations and other data

The stores/dispatch person will

Report directly to the Materials, Logistics and Stores Manager, and assist management, all section heads, quality inspectors and stores operatives.
Stores person duties include :
Loading of goods to Company vehicles, in strict accordance with Safe Working Practice methods
and Risk Assessments.
Liaison with Management in relation to schedule of goods for collection from suppliers/delivery
to customers, or sub-contractors, on a daily basis.
Control of delivery documentation and passing to Stores Administration.
General daily preventative maintenance checks of Company vehicles prior to commencement of
work for that day, reporting any faults/defects to Management.
Ensuring adequate protection of goods in transit. Discovery of penetration of water etc., onto
wrapped part must be reported to base supervision before off-loading at customer.
Daily housekeeping and general cleaning and tidiness of vehicles and particularly of bar stock and
saw areas of stores and general adherence to 5S principles.
Sawing of bar stock and issue of raw material to Fabrication/Welding/Machining and return of
surplus material to stock, making sure all material remains identified at all times.
General movement to and from production, part finished/finished components scheduled for
delivery.
General awareness of Health & Safety issues at all times, particularly on customer/supplier
premises, and wearing of adequate PPE relevant to work area, as defined in the relevant Risk
Assessments and Safe Working Practice notices.
The role will involve computer transactions, as directed.
Ensuring adherence to Quality Management System procedures, liaising with management,
section heads and inspection department, as required.
Minimisation of downtime.
