Applications Engineer (CNC Turning)

This is a great opportunity for a CNC Applications Engineer (Turning) based anywhere in the UK so commutable from Coventry, Birmingham, Leicester, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Milton Keynes, Bournemouth, Southampton and Bristol.

Paying between £35K and £40k pa (depending on experience) annual bonus of up to £7kpa Car, health care & pension. If you want to join a well-established success story in the field of pioneering machining technology then this could be the opportunity for you!

The Company

The successful Applications Engineer will be working for an employer who are a well-established success story in the field of pioneering machining technology. They specialise in manufacturing high technology CNC machines.

The Role

As the Applications Engineer, you will be conducting application engineering/ customer training on a range of CNC Machines, predominantly CNC Turning machines. You will also be looking at specific problems and then developing potential solutions, additionally you will conduct machine tool demonstrations at the company's showroom.

The Candidate

As the successful Applications Engineer, you will ideally have previous applications engineer experience from within the machine tool sector or you might be a CNC Programmer, programming CNC Turning Machines. You should be proficient with Fanuc, Mitsubishi & Siemens Control systems. You should have excellent communication and presenting skills and be a team player. You will need to be commercially minded with a consultative approach.

The Role - Control Systems Engineer

The successful Control Systems Engineer will support the electrical development function with the design and development of auxiliary DC, AC & Control Systems within vehicle conversions, these systems may be totally bespoke or a set of pre-existing components which require integration.

Responsibilities

  • Development of existing systems

  • Design & development of new control systems

  • Testing, maintaining and modifying existing systems

  • Development & integration of data-logging capabilities

  • Compiling software code/program and test procedures

  • Analysing captured data and presenting findings

  • Implementing systems

  • Liaise with external suppliers and sub-contractors in terms of commercially viable and fit for purpose products/solutions, feeding back findings as necessary

  • Ensure type approval and vehicle manufacturer requirements are met at all times

The Right Person

The successful Control Systems Engineer will have the following attributes.

  • Experience with the integration of electrical components and systems into vehicles

  • Experience of CAD packages, particularly electrical design

  • Knowledge of light commercial vehicles

  • Formal electrical training/qualifications

  • Comfortable in customer facing as well as technical situations
