Mechanical Design Engineer

The Role: Mechanical Design Engineer

37.5 Hours per week

25 days holiday, plus statutory holidays

Salary up to £50k depending on experience 

 

The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design of bespoke automated machinery and manufacturing systems. Designing machines and systems from the concept stage through to the final details stage in order to fulfil the specification outlined in the customer's order.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Design machines and systems from the concept stage through to the final detailed stage in order to fulfil the specification outlined in the customers order

  • Specifying and competitively obtaining quotations for the purchasing of tooling and bought out items in order to start the build process on time and to within budget

  • Creation of pneumatic specification & diagrams

  • Specification of all sensors & ancillary equipment needed to achieve the final design

 

The Right Person

 

The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will and a suitable engineering qualification as possessing the following attributes and skills:

  • Experience creating 3D CAD drawings

  • Advanced user of AutoDesk Inventor (Preferable, although other packages will be considered)

  • Experience working within an Automation environment, in particular machinery

  • Experience liaising with both internal and external bodies to manage projects to completion

Due to an increase in business and growth of the business, my client have a need for an Electronic Design Engineer to join their existing team. The successful person will be part of a highly skilled team, responsible for the concept, design, detailing and specification of parts, as well as liaising with both manufacturers and suppliers to ensure cost effective designs. The role requires a hands-on approach with the ability to communicate effectively with production and purchasing departments in a fast paced development environment.

  • Previous experience with large Electrical Control Cabinets 

  • Happy to work offsite as and when needed (90% of work is carried out in the open plan workshop) 

  • Holds a full UK driving licence would be an advantage 

  • Is confident in working from electrical diagrams, Schematics / layout drawings
