The Role: Operations Manager

Location: Leicestershire

Salary: c£45,000 - £55,000

Due to an increase in business and growth, my client has a need for an Operations Manager to join their existing team.

The Company

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing manufacturing business specialising in the production of electro-mechanical assemblies. Working with the Managing Director to develop new products and managing a small team it's a great time to join them to build on their already established success and market presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strong manufacturing expertise/experience
  • Working within budgets, with experience in the production of electro-mechanical assemblies would be desirable
  • Manage the design activities with familiarity with autocad mechanical software would also be a real advantage.
  • Familiar with Quality and H&S having ideally worked with ISO Standards

The Right Person

The successful Operations Manager will be a qualified Mechanical Engineer (BSc/BEng/MSc) with a high level of IT literacy. You will come with a broad engineering background, ideally gained in turnkey engineering solutions or electro-mechanical engineering assemblies. You will also possess the following competencies:

  • A proven track record in managing engineering projects - delivering on time, within budget and meeting customer expectations
  • Be hands on and able to build credible relationships with Sales, Production and Installation/Commissioning.
  • Familiar with Quality and H&S having ideally worked with ISO Standards.
  • A great leader with a natural flair for leading, mentoring and developing high performing teams

What do you need to be successful in?
● Proven success in driving revenue and profit, taking new technologies to market through

● Multiple successes through the negotiation of commercial aspects including the volume
of product, protection of IP and JVs & JDAs that fit with the vision of the business
● Taking prospective customers from development loop / TRLs through to volume
● Develop and implement worldwide sales plans and forecasts with effective account
management over different business needs and worldwide cultures
● Successful integration of sales with Product owners for solid commercial strategies to
develop current and future products
What experience will you need?
● You'll need five-plus years of International Sales Leadership into OEMs / 1st Tier
Manufacturers to give you the track record to negotiate commercial contracts at board
● Your sales experience needs to be within Technical Sales within Automotive / Aerospace
/ Power-Gen industries where you have bought new technologies or products to OEMs.
● Director, direct management over a team with personal board-level sales

Engineering Director (Interim)

An interim assignment has been created to support the Engineering Function to deliver on a number of machine build projects for a multisite international company.

The assignment needs a seasoned Engineering professional with previous success in complex project management to coordinate the resources to deliver new machines with new clients simultaneously. We need a high-level professional who can analyse root cause for clarity, deep dive on technical issues, to drive the engineering department to the successful execution of projects.

What do you need to be successful in?

Successfully engaging the multidisciplinary engineering functions with controls & metrics, managing capacity and capability, the control of efficient processes and influencing adherence to methodologies.
Delivery of complex project management of external client projects, on time & to budget with effective time management of multifunctional projects team. Achieving simultaneous engineering with tracking to timelines, purchasing, and contractual costs.
Efficient interfacing between design and application teams and daily driving of projects using proven methodologies, keeping senior management and clients updated with on or off track detail.

What experience would you need to be considered?

Hands-on Engineering matrix Leadership of a $100m international multisite capital equipment build business

Around 5-10 years of proven technical projects experience within electro-mechanical systems such as machine tools, machining systems or automation projects.

Director Level responsibility with an Engineering based Degree, ideally Chartered.
