Mechanical Design Engineer

The Role: Mechanical Design Engineer

My Client are opening a brand new site in Warwickshire and are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to assist in the design of machinery and equipment including mechanical systems, thermofluids, hydraulics and structural components

Key Responsibilities

  • Design of machinery and equipment including mechanical systems, thermofluids, hydraulics and structural components.

  • Carrying out engineering calculations, component sizing and selection & machine design

  • Mechanical design of all test systems including CAD drawings, BOM, schematics and supporting documentation

  • Involved directly with concept definition, system design, component selection, testing, verification, and validation of prototypes and final products.

  • Implementation of various design standards and practices including adherence to ISO9001 and CE marking to achieve type certification

  • Identifying, evaluating and managing manufacturing partners and suppliers both in Europe and worldwide

  • Preparation of technical manuals and reports

  • Technical support and guidance to other team members. Participating in design meetings and disseminating progress to team members and management

  • Supporting workshop production and build/assembly of large prototypes as required

The Right Person

The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, as well as possessing the following key skills:

  • 5 years relevant industrial experience in mechanical design of machines, systems, engines, heat pumps or similar

  • Automotive and/or heavy engineering industry experience

  • Preferably hydraulic systems design experience

  • Practical / Hands-on experience

  • Solidworks experience required. PDM an advantage, but not essential

Maintenance Engineer - Mechanical

The Role: Maintenance Engineer
My Client are looking for a Multi skilled Maintenance Engineer to be based on one of their clients sites in the Bristol area.
The Company
A subsidiary of a larger organisation based in the USA with over 30 years of experience designing and building custom automation equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Providing support, maintenance & improvement of a highly complex automation cell

  • Cell consists of 2 robots, 3 custom 6-axis gantries, 4 CNC controllers, 13 PLCs, 7 HMIs, Custom Software Application to Control the overall Cell and over 100 Servo Motors
  • Maintain highly complex mechanical systems within the machines
  • Fault Find on Electrical Cabinets to diagnose faults and undertake basic electrical work to install new components as required (limited to 3 phase 415VAC)
  • Be the face of the company whilst based on their clients site.   The Right Person

The successful Maintenance Engineer must have previous experience performing the above duties as well as Controls/Software experience. The entire system runs on a control system, it is impossible to separate mechanical, electrical and controls as they are all intertwined, to this extent, you must have a working knowledge of how these sorts of systems work to allow diagnosis and problem resolution. (Specific tools that are used; Siemens TIA Portal, VBScript, Siemens 840d CNC Controllers, Kuka KRC4 Controllers, C#, .NET Software Development and MSSQL database backend). 

  • Experience providing ongoing support, maintenance, and improvement of a highly complex automation cell

  • Ability to Fault Find on Electrical Systems as well as being able to undertake basic electrical work.

  • Working knowledge of Composites within an Aerospace / Automation Environment

  • Previous experience in a customer facing position (working on site)

The position will require you to develop and assess early stage structural, CFD and Heat Transfer Concepts. Experience with COMSOL nonlinear structures and turbulent modelling packages is desirable along with a good understanding of Heat Transfer Systems.

THE COMPANY
Our established client is one of Europe’s largest providers of electric vehicles. They are looking for an experienced Mobile Mechanic in the North London area to join their team of vehicle service technicians. You will be travelling around to customer sites servicing and repairing a range of their electrical vehicles and motorcycles. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to gain experience working in the electric vehicle industry, which is the future.

Commutable from: Finchley, Tottenham, Hammersmith, Ealing, Wembley, Edmonton, Walthamstow, Barnet, Enfield, Uxbridge, Stanmore.

THE ROLE

  • To carry out routine servicing or maintenance on fleet electric mopeds and electric motorcycles around London
  • Conduct diagnosis of any found or reported faults, carrying out repairs as required
  • Completion of appropriate documentation
  • Carry out road tests to confirm correct operation and stability following service/repair
  • Operate stock control and manage the parts ordering process
  • Ensure workspace and tools/equipment is maintained to an acceptable standard
  • Provide great customer service and offer advice to drivers and their managers
  • Understand and comply with health and safety standards
  • Attend training courses to update personal skills and knowledge
  • Any extra product training will be provided
