This is an exciting opportunity to become Head of Controls to lead a Control Systems team in the production and servicing of my clients machine range and to make continuous improvements to the product range.

The Company

A well established company that builds CNC Machines for the manufacture of Ultra-Precision optical surfaces. These Machines are for a broad range of industries such as Medical Implants, Consumer Electronics, Astronomical Optics and Semiconductors.

The Right Person

The successful Head of Controls will have a good understanding of concepts involved in CNC and Machine Control as well as an understanding of how to design, specify and implement multi-axis CNC control systems and ancillaries (Fanuc skills are very desirable, Bosch skills will also score highly). You will have a good understanding of electrical systems and fault finding. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, have a customer focused attitude and an analytical approach to problem solving. Excellent time and Project Management skills whilst working to challenging timescales. You will have previous experience in managing people and or projects and 5 years in a technical role within electrical/electronic engineering or a similar discipline.

The Role

You will be primarily responsible for translating business requirements and functional specifications into logical program designs (Java), code modules, stable application systems and software solutions; identifying methods to apply industry best practices in a machine tool environment. A key part of the role will be building relationships with existing team members and helping to drive software change leading by example.
Responsibilities will include: developing high level application software to support machine tools; integrating high level and low level (PLC) software solutions in a traditional engineering environment; perform code reviews and testing; perform product testing on your own and third party code; write and maintain development documentation such as specifications, test plans and design documentation.

The Candidate
As the successful Software Engineer you should ideally be educated to degree level or have received equivalent training in technology; as a pc based software engineer you will have primary knowledge of Java; you will have the desire to work in an advanced engineering environment and to lead a change in culture. It would be highly advantageous for the successful candidate to have an understanding of machine tools or engineering.

You will be required to work to these customer specifications and be apart of a dynamic team, taking on all electrical aspects required for a successful vehicle conversion.This may involve complex tasks such as, on-board communications technology, bomb disposal, to mountain rescue components.

The Successful Electrical Fitter will have:

Level 2/3 in Electrical Installation

Auto electrical experience is preferred

The ability to work as a part of a dynamic, driven work force to hit targets

Hours of work- 37 hours per week, plus potential overtime

Hours- 08:00-16:30

Hourly rate- £8.66- £10.06

Marking out drilling and tapping are an integral part of your day to day duties as is the use of power tools. The Role
Carrying out site surveys and audits (beginning/during/end of project)
