The Opportunity:

This is a truly one-off opportunity to become part of the ongoing success story of a 250+ global team that will be bringing Clean Tech fuel cells to the transportation market, predominantly in the Automotive industry but with a wider span into aerospace and other applications that prove the better choice over battery power. 

We are looking for a Sales or Business Development focused Director level person with proven success in driving revenue and profit, taking new technologies to market. Key strengths must be the ability to build a strong understanding of how the commercial offering can add value to customers. Your focus will be to maximise the value in the long term of working with different customers at different times to grow to manufacture at scale.

You will need to have a clear understanding of the need to win business wisely with a view to long term benefit rather than short term wins. This giving a successful tactical delivery of volume unit agreements with customers, built on solid commercials to develop current and future products. 

What you’ll need: 

Several years of Sales and Business development in a startup or taking a new technical product to an existing automotive or equivalent production focused market, ideally at OEM or 1st Tier Manufacturers. Having exposure to Clean Tech Power / E-Mobility markets would be a distinct advantage. You must have proven abilities to give clear communication up, down and across about the commercial roadmap and be an executor of the plan.

You will have strategic and tactical experience of positioning commercially the right offering to the best-fit customers for manufacturing volumes. We’re looking for a Player Manager who wants to make their mark in this growing sector, with the potential of success to lead to career level advancement to a C-suite role.

Our client is a leading manufacturer operating in locations across the UK with a product portfolio of high-quality volume production processes. They offer unrivalled products to a diverse number of markets including Construction, Civil & Infrastructure, FM, and Agriculture. The business is entering an exciting phase in their development with a mandate to grow and identify a General Manager with excellent communications skills and a strong all round operational, financial and commercial experience.

It is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership for building a team that will pride themselves on getting things done and to influence both the day to day operations of the site and also the longer term Group Commercial  strategy.
What do you need to be successful in?
The role will naturally suit an individual who can impact on day to day commercial operations but also has broader experience in delivering change and managing projects – someone who has developed their career through either a commercial/ finance leadership role or an operations lead, with a firm grasp of P&L.

 What experience will you need?

  • A strong Commercial or Operations background within a high volume production business – ideally from an engineered high volume product. 
  • Proven experience in delivering change programmes and engineering projects
  • A natural people manager with proven success creating high performing teams
  • An inquisitive nature, and a natural desire to seek out alternative processes or outcomes 
  • The ability to influence, engage and work with the site leadership team

This successful candidate will be highly visible to a number of key stakeholders and will    have the opportunity to create a strong brand for themselves which will inevitably influence their career trajectory from a longer-term perspective.
